Following on from our very popular outdoor film showings, we have a new programme of Cinema & Supper Evenings. Enjoy a delicious two-course meal plus a film in the relaxed surroundings of The Scented Botanist at Keyneston Mill.

You will be seated bistro-style at socially distanced tables (max 6 per booking), and there will be a licensed bar, hot drinks and after supper treats available, to enhance the movie experience.

As the evenings draw in, we shall be hosting a number of Themed Evenings at The Scented Botanist, offering imaginative food, good wine, a relaxed atmosphere and a friendly welcome.

Each evening will focus on a specific cuisine from around the world, and will centre on a 3-course menu to tempt your taste buds and transport you to warmer, foreign climes! All tables within our spacious bistro will be for a maximum of 6, and will be socially distanced for your comfort.

Botanical Jewellery – Silver Clay Workshop

Suitable for complete beginners or those with some silver clay experience who would like to further develop their skills, this full-day workshop starts with a walk around the scented gardens to collect some foliage and flowers.

You will learn how to make moulds of various flowers, leaves and seedpods and create a pendant, charm or drop earrings using the moulds you have made. You will then fire your piece(s), before polishing and applying finishing touches to your jewellery.

Aromatherapy & the healing power of plants

This session is for those who want to learn how to harness the power of plants and their essential oils to restore a sense of calm and balance and is led by qualified Clinical Practitioner, Shelley Baker.

Her approach is to merge ancient wisdom and knowledge of plants, with modern science and research to understand how and why plant oils work, and how best to use them. This is an interactive session with a practical element, the emphasis being on self-help and learning how to use aromatherapy in a safe way.

Beginners Botanical Embroidery Workshop

Suitable for complete beginners, this workshop will teach you hand embroidery techniques and stitches to complete a botanical inspired hooped embroidery, perfect for a wall hanging or cushion cover. You will practice threading and tension techniques, while learning six key embroidery stitches.

Lesley Davies, a locally based corset designer, and Fashion and Textiles designer Tanya Glynn will be on hand to demonstrate, and for advice and guidance. This is a perfect creative hobby that you can completely immerse yourself in, to relax away from any screen time.

Botanical Silk Dyeing Workshop

Learn how to create beautiful, colourful designs on British Peace Silk with dried or fresh botanicals as natural dyes, using a binding and steaming process. With this environmentally friendly process, you can achieve a variety of results using colours derived from just botanical elements. You will take away at least one finished silk scarf, a perfect and unique Christmas present for a friend or as an addition to your own wardrobe.

Suitable for complete beginners, the workshop will be held within the Aromadome, at Keyneston Mill and will be taught by Tanya Glynn a Dorset based Fashion and Textiles designer. She will be assisted by Lesley Davies a locally based corset designer. You will have plenty of time to explore the creative process. It is a very expressive way of working, so you can have fun with it!

Botanical Silk Dyeing plus Beginners Botanical Embroidery (Full Day)

Throughout the day, Tanya Glynn a Dorset based Fashion and Textiles designer who has instructed garment construction for over 10 years and Lesley Davies, a locally based corset designer will be on hand to demonstrate and advise.

The workshop which will take place in our cosy Aromadome, will start with an introduction to the flowers, roots, and pigments you will be using to dye the fabric. You will also discover which fabrics, botanical elements, soaps and mordants are best to use to help dyes stay colour fast. This will be followed by a demonstration of rolling and folding techniques, also an unravelling of a bundle to show the effects you can achieve.
