Volunteering at Keyneston Mill

Words From Our Volunteers

Volunteering at the mill has given me the opportunity to meet fellow garden enthusiasts, learn loads and enjoy working in a wonderful environment. I always come away feeling satisfied at what I’ve achieved.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Keyneston Mill as a garden volunteer. I joined in June 2018 after a garden tour with Ellie (Gardener).

One day a week has suited me perfectly and it’s been lovely to meet so many experienced gardeners, particularly my fellow volunteer friend, Maureen, who has been so generous sharing her gardening knowledge and expertise over the last couple of years.

I do feel there is a wonderful camaraderie at the company and I very much hope David and Julia make a great success of Parterre. In fact, I’ve relished delving into the perfume world and discovering the joy of so many scented flowers. Long may it continue!

Volunteering in the unique setting of Keyneston Mill has certainly fulfilled everything I wanted to get out of a voluntary occupation. Having visited the garden I knew I wanted to be part of seeing this wonderful new botanical project progress.

I was made to feel part of the friendly team immediately and was able to work at my own pace at all times still giving me time to walk and enjoy the environment I felt was so good for health and soul

At the same time I learn a lot from people who are only too happy to share their extensive knowledge of plants, whether they be the gardeners or visitors.

A few hours or a whole day, the choice was whatever I could give and always be fully appreciated.
