The Secrets of Scent – An Introduction to Perfume & Natural Extracts
TIME: 9:45am arrival; 10:00am start – 12:30
In this half-day workshop you will delve into the fascinating world of perfumery, discovering how fragrances are created, what makes a successful scent, and how memory influences our scent preferences. You will learn about the main perfume families, some of the unusual natural ingredients we grow at Keyneston Mill, and the various methods used to extract essential oils from flowers, seeds, foliage and roots. You will also hear one or two intriguing stories behind some of the world’s most iconic fragrances, and discover what perfume ‘notes’ work best for you. Be prepared to sniff!
This workshop can be booked together with Perfume Making (recommended), which puts some of the theory into practice, or it can simply be booked on its own.
