Botanical Collage Workshop

Create colourful Christmas cards and gift tags in cut paper collage.

Timings: 9.45am arrival, 10.00am start (12.30-1.15pm lunch) with a finish time of approximately 3pm

In this one-day workshop learn how to cut out and layer coloured craft papers to achieve striking 3-dimensional images.  Work from designs provided or bring your own ideas which Penny will help you to realise in collage.

This is a fun, relaxed workshop for all skill levels where you can experiment and work at your own pace.  Start with a simple snowdrop design from a kit that Penny will provide. You can then go on to try other designs such as a Christmas tree or a pile of presents using solid, bright block colours. Or perhaps you would like to try a more complex design such as a partridge in a pear tree or a Christmas Rose.

There will be plenty of guidance and demonstrations of various techniques: design; balancing the colours and tones; choosing papers; refining shapes; cutting; assembling; and gluing.  At the end of the day you will have created highly individual and artistic cards and gift tags that you will be really proud of.

Penny is a botanical artist and is a Fellow of The Society of Botanical Artists and exhibits with them regularly in London, Frankfurt and Spain.  In 2018 her book Botanical Drawing – A Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit and other Plant Life was published by Search Press. She is a tutor on the SBA distance Learning Course and enjoys running workshops on graphite drawing and cut paper collage.
