Botanical Drawing Workshop – Autumn in the Scented Garden
Explore the wonderful variety of autumnal plants in this one-day drawing workshop. from dried seed-heads and grasses to berries, acorns and nuts. This will be a relaxed, fun workshop suitable for all skills where you will receive all the support you need to achieve a pencil drawing that is botanically accurate but also visually beautiful.
You will be encouraged to use a full range of graphite pencils from the dark 6B through to the pale 6H and will be shown a variety of techniques from clear outlines to sharp hatching and smooth, rich blending. Penny Brown is a Fellow of The Society of Botanical Artists and exhibits with them regularly. In 2018 her book Botanical Drawing – A Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit and other Plant Life was published.
Please bring the following materials:
– A range of graphite pencils eg. Faber Castell 9000 Series from 3B to 3H
– Putty rubber
– Good quality sharpener or craft knife
– 12” ruler
Penny will have individual sheets of paper available for you to buy, if needed, and will supply some very hard and soft pencils for you to try.
Timings: 9.45am – arrival, 10.00am start, (12.30-1.15pm lunch), finish approx 3pm
